선택받은 자, 카이렌

한 시대가 저물고 새로운 역사가 시작될 무렵, 대륙의 중심부에 작은 마을이 자리 잡았다. 루미네 왕국과 노크트라 제국의 국경 가까이에 있는 이 마을은 오랜 전쟁으로 황폐해진 땅 위에서 조용히 재건되고 있었다. 이곳에는 귀족도 기사도 없었지만, 한 소년이 운명을 바꿀 준비를 하고 있었다.

소년의 이름은 카이렌. 전쟁 중에 부모를 잃고 마을 대장장이 가르트에게 맡겨진 그는 검과 도구를 만드는 일을 도우며 성장했다. 겉보기에는 평범한 소년이었지만, 가끔씩 꿈속에서 알 수 없는 목소리를 들었다.

"너는 선택받은 자다... 빛과 어둠이 너를 기다리고 있다..."

그 목소리는 희미하고 아득했으며, 카이렌은 그것을 단순한 꿈이라 여겼다. 하지만 열여섯이 되던 해, 마을에 이상한 일이 벌어지기 시작했다.

밤하늘이 검붉게 물들고, 공기에는 설명할 수 없는 불길한 기운이 감돌았다. 농작물이 시들고, 동물들이 하나둘 사라졌으며, 사람들은 알 수 없는 병에 걸려 쓰러졌다. 마을 사람들은 두려움에 떨었고, 가르트는 카이렌을 불러 조용히 말했다.

"카이렌, 이곳을 떠나라. 네 운명은 이 마을에 머물러 있기에는 너무나 특별하다."

카이렌은 가르트의 말을 이해할 수 없었다. 하지만 그날 밤, 그의 운명을 바꿀 사건이 일어났다.

마을 한가운데에서 거대한 그림자가 피어오르더니, 검은 망토를 두른 자가 모습을 드러냈다.

"칠흑의 서약이 깨어질 시간이 다가온다..."

그 인물은 손을 뻗어 마을을 혼돈 속으로 몰아넣으려 했고, 그 순간 카이렌의 몸에서 눈부신 빛과 깊은 어둠이 동시에 터져 나왔다. 검은 망토를 두른 자는 움찔하며 중얼거렸다.

"이 아이가... 선택받은 자인가?"

그렇게 카이렌의 평범했던 삶은 끝이 났다. 그는 자신이 누구이며, 왜 이런 힘을 가지고 있는지 알지 못했지만, 한 가지는 분명했다.

이제 그는 선택해야 했다. 빛과 어둠, 그 둘 사이에서.

 

The Chosen One, Kyren

As one era ended and a new history began, a small village emerged at the heart of the continent, near the borders of the Lumine Kingdom and the Noctra Empire. The land, scarred by the remnants of war, was slowly healing. This village had no nobles or knights, but within it lived a boy destined to change the world.

His name was Kyren. His parents had vanished during the last great war, and he had been raised by the village blacksmith, Garth. On the surface, Kyren appeared to be an ordinary boy, but at times, he dreamt of voices whispering in the darkness.

"You are the chosen one... Light and shadow await you..."

The voice was faint, almost unreal, and he dismissed it as a mere dream. But on the eve of his sixteenth birthday, strange events began occurring in the village.

The sky turned a deep crimson at night, an eerie energy seeped into the land, and crops withered while animals disappeared without a trace. A mysterious illness spread among the villagers, and fear took hold of their hearts. One evening, Garth called Kyren aside and spoke in a grave tone.

"Kyren, you must leave this place. You are meant for something greater."

Kyren did not understand what Garth meant, but that night, fate revealed itself. A massive shadow loomed over the village, and a figure clad in a black cloak emerged from the darkness.

"The Dark Oath is on the verge of breaking..."

The figure raised a hand, preparing to unleash chaos upon the village, but at that moment, something extraordinary happened. A brilliant light erupted from Kyren’s body, interwoven with tendrils of pure darkness. The black-cloaked figure hesitated, stepping back in shock.

"This boy... Could he be the one?"

In that instant, Kyren's ordinary life came to an end. He did not yet know who he was or why this power dwelled within him, but one thing became clear—

He had a choice to make. Between light and darkness, between fate and defiance.
